By joining the expertises of the two groups in this common project, we expect to obtain membranes with tuned morphology, porosity, hydrophilicity, thermal stability, and antimicrobial activity which can assure better efficiency and selectivity in the process of water desalination by reverse osmosis.

Moreover, the teams will explore the ability to scale-up and achieve cost effective production of the best performing membranes. Added value of the project is training researchers from both countries in the field of electrospinning and desalination processes by workshops, visits and exchanges. Publishing manuscripts based on the findings of the proposal by the end of year 2 is foreseen.
